K[no]wHate Evening at Ostello Bello, Milan, IT

16 March 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm

The KnowHate evening is a cosy soirée for the energies of poets, artists, musicians and journalists, established and not. It is a place where words, sounds and visuals are most important. An evening in which all manner of human beings are welcome to acquire the knowledge and critical understanding of the issues of hate, discrimination and human rights through an engaging artistic approach.

This time we organise it at Ostello Bello, a hostel and an event venue located in a former design furniture shop in the heart of Milan. Their moto is #fightingprejudice* since 2011.

In the social and political current climate of Italy and the EU in general, bringing people together is essential. We are trying to show how easy it is to sit down with someone who may have opposing views to you and still find so much in common.

The evening begins with the 10-minute group intention which aims at countering hate by projecting a certain thought. The session will be conducted by Inge Demuynck, a coach and a healer, inspired by Lynne Mc Taggart. Inge is currently working with small and large groups in Belgium, showcasing how the power of group intention can heal our lives and change the world for the better.

The session will be followed by the main artistic part: poetry performances (Luís Perdigão, Simone Savo, Martina Dirce, Alessandro Burbanck, Inke Gieghase, Béné Kusendila, Marina Kazakova) + live music show by Slow Bear. This part invites audience to an individual’s self-reflective process.

The final part of the event is exchanging thoughts and feelings on the happening while having a chance to observe visual art works by Bart Dewolf (Inmodis) exhibited at the venue. For KnowHate campaign the creator of existential scrap metal installations Bart has prepared the installation called “F**kushima”. A series of art objects is a reflexion on fake truth on social media and Bart’s interpretation of hate as a tool used by powers ignorant to the continuation of (human)species, in order to gain/maintain more power and profit!
