K[no]wHate Evening at The Gallery

25 May 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm

The KnowHate evening is a cosy soirée for the energies of poets, artists, musicians and journalists, established and not. It is a place where words, sounds and visuals are most important. An evening in which all manner of human beings are welcome to acquire the knowledge and critical understanding of the issues of hate, discrimination and human rights through an engaging artistic approach.

This time we organise it at The Gallery, an art space in the centre of Genk.

In the social and political current climate of Belgium, Italy and the EU in general, bringing people together is essential. We are trying to show how easy it is to sit down with someone who may have opposing views to you and still find so much in common.

The evening begins at 18:30 with the 10-minute group intention which aims at countering hate by projecting a certain thought. The session will be conducted by Inge Demuynck a coach and a healer, inspired by Lynne Mc Taggart, currently working with small and large groups showcasing how the power of group intention can heal our lives and change the world for the better.

The session will be followed by the main artistic part: poetry performances (Luís Perdigão, Simone Savo, Alessandro Burbanck, Tom Driesen, Inke Gieghase, Béné Kusendila, Marina Kazakova) + live music show by Slow Bear. This part invites audience to an individual’s self-reflective process.

The final part of the event is exchanging thoughts and feelings on the happening while having a chance to observe visual art works by Bart Dewolf (Inmodis) exhibited at the venue and to speak directly with the artist.
