To love when you don’t even know that you love.
To love when autumn stars stop falling
And I stand and watch and I know
That I’ll never catch them
‘Encore’.
To love till the last line of my poem,
Which is never known
Beforehand.
To love when the clouds of incense
Hurry
Past my door, past God, past the morning
Snow.
To love when you only
Can swing your arms around the church dome.
To love when your letter is lost
By a postman.
To love with the five open ‘a’s
Of my surname.
To love in the absence of white ‘notti’.
To love whenever ‘posso’.
